The Vision of PWBC |

The vision of the church, as handed down from the time of its planting, is to be:-
Missionary means to be faithful to the Great Commission 'to make disciples of all the nations'. The church's evangelism is about winning the hearts of the lost more than any 'numbers count', and it is about having life-long disciples added to the church. It is based upon 'friendship' evangelism, with cell groups and a programme of social events as vehicles for making and deepening friendships with neighbours and others. The church needs to be envisioned for evangelism and we need to avoid at all costs any sense of being 'driven' into it. Spirit-filled means that we promote 'receiving the Holy Spirit' as the normal Christian experience, and we hope for the operation of spiritual gifts in our midst according to 1 Cor 12-14 (i.e. to be exercising 'charismatic' gifts). We recognise that we need to minister in the power of the Holy Spirit in all we do, rather than in our own strength. Being Relevant (or 'Contemporary') is to ensure that every member's faith is 'concrete' and makes a real and testifiable difference in their life and that the church corporately has its 'feet fixed firmly to the ground'. This shows itself as we love one another, are 'for' one another, encourage one another, pray for one another and are gentle with one another. In this way the church should be presenting a 'compelling case for Christ', being Good News as well as preaching Good News. |
